WORKSHOP INFORMATION- Requirements - Pre-Workshop Survey - Demonstration Form
|
The Teaching Earth and Space Sciences workshop is part of the “Expanding Connections in Science Education” project to strengthen K-12 science education in local schools. Workshop objectives are to increase teacher knowledge of scientific concepts and methods, and to increase confidence in teaching science. Local teachers and faculty from The College of Wooster and the Ohio Agricultural Research and Development Center (OARDC) designed the workshop to meet the content and instructional needs identified by teachers in surveys done in January of 2005.
Workshop focus is on hands-on, interactive, fun learning activities and all participants will bring one hands-on activity to share with other teachers in their grade level. Workshop attendees receive an honorarium of $375 and may register for two (2) semester graduate credits at their own expense. Teachers attending the workshop will be given first opportunity to participate in the Teacher-Scholar Program (TSP). This website contains more information about the TSP and the supply stipend that is available for each Teacher-Scholar classroom.
* Registration for the workshop is open to teachers in the districts included in the pilot program: Wooster, East Holmes, Chippewa, and Hillsdale. Registration eligibility will extend to other districts if space permits.
